Little Worker Elves

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Taking another chapter from “What I did for my Christmas Vacation”, I wanted to share perhaps my favorite moments of the season. While the boy’s mother was here, one night the three of us were in the living room watching holiday movies and I was adding to my ever expanding collection of unlisted pieces when the boy asked if I would show him how to make something!

I was so excited I couldn’t believe it. So I spent the rest of the night holding an impromptu jewelry workshop and teaching them both to make earrings and I must say they are amazingly quick studies. The hummingbirds are the boy’s and the pearls his mother made. Both pairs left with her, he wanted her to have his for Christmas.

And as I said, I made lots. I mean, LOTS. So here are a ton of new listings and it will continue on like this for a while, I have some making up to do after taking the holiday off.

Life as we know it

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

It’s back! The holiday craze is done and the Christmas decorations can be taken down and I can take a nap. What a month. But we had so much fun, this was our best Christmas ever, our first chance to celebrate in our own home. But I do think we look a touch relieved in this picture.

After the presents.

And look at the handmade Etsy gift card my sweet and thoughtful husband made me! He knows I watch my favorite Etsy shops like a hawk so he didn’t want to buy me anything knowing I’d probably figure it out. Clever boy, I admit it, I was keeping an eye on his feedback. But this I never would have guessed and this was so much cooler to me than him just buying me something I wanted.

I’ve been taking a break from listing for the last week and a half but I promise I haven’t taken a break from creating, it’s unbelievable how much inventory I have, a record high for me. So I’ll be listing lots today and much more in the days to come. I have much catching up to do. Hope you all had a fantastic holiday!

Holiday Blues

Monday, December 10th, 2007

I think blue is always a classy color for the holiday season, no matter how you celebrate. It also happens to be my favorite color and I suppose those two factors combined inspired my latest works. It also happens to carry on fabulously the rest of the year.

As they always seem to, the holidays are starting again early for me, we’ll be celebrating Christmas here with my grandparents this weekend! They’re going to Tennessee to be with my mother and aunt and the rest of my family. I’ll miss them all, but I’m really looking forward to my holiday too, my mother in law is coming to stay and it will be my first time to have Christmas at home.

So as you can imagine, I have much preparing to do. I did finally get that curtained doorway up, it looks fantastic. And I picked back up my very rudimentary crochet skills and made new oversized potholders out of some really pretty yarn I had forgot about I purchased ages ago from TerraBellaSpun. Ours were tiny and I wouldn’t call them functional. The new ones are thick and fluffy and so big you can fold them in half. And I can’t believe how well these colors work with the sari fabric I used on the doorway. Also, they have a hook for hanging. My grandmother will be so proud! (She’s my crochet hero)

The gift rush has me wanting to write Santa for an assistant! I’m hoping to reach 300 sales this week. I keep expecting it to slow down again, but from all I’ve read in the Etsy forums, they get really busy the beginning of the year, so we’ll see. All in all, I’d say I’m a happy girl this holiday season.

The Last Hurrah

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

With December starting, I don’t suppose there is a lot more time for holiday jewelry so I went full force this week. Just in time too, everything else from my holiday line is sold already!

My sales lately are through the roof, my November sales passed my previous monthly record by 20!! Yay for Christmas shopping. And I must admit, it’s pretty neat to think my jewelry will be under so many trees this year. That’s really special. I hope everyone else is having such luck.

I’m off to celebrate by spending the weekend with the boy and two new wii games that just came in the mail, our first from gamefly. Brain Academy for both of us and the Sims Castaways to feed my secret sims addiction…though I suppose the secret’s out now.

I was planning on listing some gorgeous new blue filigree pieces, but it’s a dark and wintery day here in Texas, so look for those soon. Have a great weekend!
