3 Years Now

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Today is my third wedding anniversary!  I cannot express enough how wonderful a husband I have and how happy we are together.  A lot of life gets candy coated online, this isn’t one of them.  I’m very lucky to have him in my life, everyone who knows him is.  I’m not saying we don’t ever fight about the stupid stuff(and sometimes the serious stuff) but we’re pretty perfectly matched.  I live a rather cloistered life here in Fort Worth, but it never really gets lonely because even when I’m sitting here working for hours on end, he’s almost always right here next to me at work on something at his own computer.  Fortunately, he shares my hermit-like nature.

We met when we were 14, so this year we have been friends for half of our lives and he really only gets better and I couldn’t be more proud of who he is as a person.  And now that my few minutes of gushing are done, I’m off to enjoy the rest of the evening.  We’re going to beat Folklore, a Playstation 3 game we’ve been playing off and on for a couple months.  Perhaps not an an ideal anniversary for some, but just right for us.

DC Designing

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

I’ve met a lot of great people through Etsy, some I suspect will be in my life for a long time to come. One such person is Denise of dcdesigns.  She’s an artist who makes sophisticated and modern jewelry using polymer clay.  She’s more recently started adding vintage elements to her some of her work, you know I love that.  And in addition to being so creative and talented, she’s one of the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet.

She’s been working on giving her shop a makeover the past few weeks and I think the work has really paid off, it looks beautiful!  It was Denise who recommended setting up a Facebook business page and there she posted a request for customer appreciation photos.  A brilliant idea and I don’t know why I never thought of it before!  So here’s me and my DC Designs mirror I use for inspecting the back of my hair.

And now I’m stealing another one of Denise’s fabulous ideas, anyone who wants to send me a picture of them in their Old but New jewelry will in return be sent a small surprise.  So send some!

A Banner Day

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

There are a few websites my husband is working on that he asked me to make banners for. I procrastinated as long as I could and finally kicked them all out in one day a couple days ago and gave myself a reason to update my little beginnings of a portfolio.

Today I spent making jewelry and cleaning and reorganizing my studio area.  Things are really shaping up, I was thinking I might share pictures of the progress I’ve made sometime this week.  I’m also planning a super secret surprise feature, so keep an eye out.

My mother-in-law is coming to stay the weekend, so I’ll be very busy preparing for that.  She’s the sweetest, most laid back lady, but I still freak like every daughter-in-law before me, EVERYTHING MUST BE PERFECT!

She brought cookies! I’m old enough to have cookies for breakfast if I want, right?

Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow

Friday, March 20th, 2009

The proper mourning period has passed since the death of my good ole’ (twice)refurbished Kodak and the time has come to retire those old photos.  My clearance sale has gone store wide.  Everything listed before my new love, the Nikon P80, came into my life, is on sale!  There are some great deals on some really nice things.  I had originally intended to slowly retake pictures of them all, but I’ve decided I’d much rather focus my time and energy on creating new things.  You can find some of the fruits of my recent efforts in my shop already.

Have to post and run tonight, our power has gone out 3 times since we got home from my grandparents after dinner, once for an hour! We don’t manage well without our window to the world, by the time I had the first candle lit, my husband was trying to figure out if he had internet on his phone.
