I’ve started walking!!!  All those exclamation marks are to indicate that this is a near miraculous event.  I wouldn’t say I’m lazy…but I am.  Physical activity has not been a part of my life since I was 16 and had to give up ballet.  Since, it’s been a completely sedentary lifestyle.  I’m trying to fix that.  My husband and I have now walked 1.6 to 2 miles a day for 6 days straight.  He found a neat website, mapmyrun.com, where you can track your path and mileage, we’ve had fun keeping up.

We often refer to Fort Worth as the Land of Strip Malls, but we’re really lucky where we live that there is a small(in bad need of a cleaning) lake a block away.  So we walk around it.  We get a lot of funny looks from neighbors, but that might just be the camera slung across my hip.  It’s just that there’s so much local wildlife, I like to be ready for it.

And to prove we were there, a picture of me and the wizard on our walk…my friends have been referring to my husband as the wizard for a while now and I think he secretly likes it a lot.  You guys are my friends, right?

Lest you think this whole walking business means I’ve mended my wicked ways, I can assure you, that is not the case.

We’ve only just decided to move, the application process has begun and I’ve only briefly looked at the housing market in San Marcos.  But I’ve already compiled a rather long list of pretty things I could fill my new house with.  You know, priorities and all that.

The least of which being the most immediately noticable, haircut!  With BANGS!  Big huge step for this long haired hippie child.  Got it done yesterday, it’s growing on me.  I fear change.

But this was but a baby step to much bigger changes, such as a planned move across the state in our near future.  Like, in two months.  Or seven.  We’re not positive yet, but he’s transferring to Texas State University in the fall or spring semester, so we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us!

So I’m looking for a job around here right now, something to help fund the big move(and hire movers, not doing that again!)  And right now, my husband, in addition to the schooling, is tutoring and has a web design class to teach middle schoolers at his current college over the summer in their “College for Kids” program.  My plan is to apply at some of the little local retail shops we have so many of around here, I don’t have any retail experience, but I do have retail banking experience and I’m hoping that that tied with my current experience running my own business will help me get a foot in the door.

So that’s where we are and what we’ve been up to.  We’ll be pretty busy this summer, but I hope to keep you all up to date on our plans, I just had to wait and tell my grandparents in person first(I know Dadave reads my blog, didn’t want this to be how they heard).  Wish us luck!

I got to get myself a little late birthday present today and I’m so excited about it!  It’s really quite perfect.  I’m a long time fan of the thedreamygiraffe, my first ever original art purchase was a painting of hers.  I’ve been admiring this print for a long time now and today my husband convinced me to treat myself.

I know my updates have been slow in coming this past week, but there’s been a whole lot going on that I cannot share with you just yet.  It will all be announced in the next few days, along with the May giveaway, so bear with me just a little bit longer.

A year older!  Today was my 28th birthday.  Unfortunately, my husband has what I had last week, so it was a slow and quiet day at home, but it with pancakes and ended with yummy casserole, as long as I’m well fed I’m a happy girl.  And I got presents in the mail from my mom, who lives in Tennessee!  The camera died in the middle, so these were all the pictures I got, I’ll take better pictures of the gifts later, they’re so pretty!

My grandmother had surgery on Tuesday, so I’ve spent most of the week worried about her, but it went very well and she thinks it did the trick, so hopefully she’s back on her feet soon.  My Mimi isn’t the sort to be held back long.

We’re going to Austin tomorrow to spend the weekend with my Mother-in-law, so I may not write again until we get back, but expect to hear from me next week, I have much to share.
