Quotable Contest
I love quotes. I collect them and frequently read back through them for a laugh or to be inspired. Often at the same time. Here are a few of my favorites:
“I love quotations because it is a joy to find thoughts one might have, beautifully expressed with much authority by someone recognized wiser than oneself.” - Marlene Dietrich
“She had a pretty gift for quotation, which is a serviceable substitute for wit.” - W. Somerset Maugham
“People will accept your ideas much more readily if you tell them Benjamin Franklin said it first.” - David H. Comins
“Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire.” - Reggie Leach
“When I can no longer create anything, I’ll be done for.” - Coco Chanel
*And my very favorite(I have a lot of Lily Tomlin favorites, but this ranks tops for me!):
“What if it’s boring, or if it’s not boring, it might be too revealing, or worse, it might be too revealing and still be boring” - Lily Tomlin

Or if you’re in a serious mood:
“The one concern of the Devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from their prayerless studies, prayerless works, and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toils, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when they pray.” Samuel Chadwick
And then, I made up one myself: “I suffer from hipatitis: terminal coolness.”
“I shall seize Fate by the throat; it shall certainly not bend and crush me completely” — Ludwig von Beethoven

Fave that I do not have the author of:
“A vision without the ability to execute is probably an hallucination.”
Sadly, I can’t recall the author of this,
“Treat the earth well. It was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children.”
ooohh… I have more… I’m an art teacher, so I guess I have to quote an artist,,,

— Maya Angelou
I think you’ll know why I love this so, especially recently =)
“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.”

As to humor here is one of my favs:
“I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.”~Unknown
